DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

Whilst the focus of the Werribee Mercy Mental Health Program is treating those with more chronic and complex conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorders, depression and anxiety illnesses are a much more common problem affecting more people in the community.

It's a situation further complicated by the lack of psychiatrists in many parts of Australia, and the resulting reliance on general practitioners to provide front line treatment and ongoing patient management.

The McAuley Foundation aims to support research at Werribee Mercy Hospital to identify the nature of depression and anxiety support required and the most effective ways to ensure its timely delivery.
